COVID-19

Our Response to the COVID-19 Situation

We are committed to maintaining the highest standard of cardiac care during this difficult time. We remain open to see all heart rhythm patients. We will continue to treat and support each and every one of our patients and their families, with a number of measures taken to ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Telehealth Consultations

To maximise social distancing, we now offer telehealth consultations by video call or telephone for all eligible new and returning patients. We will bulk bill you if you are:

  • A patient with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses who is not in hospital
  • Self-isolating or quarantined in line with government directive
  • Aged 70 years or older
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander aged over 50 years
  • Pregnant or a parent of a child under 12 months of age
  • A person with a chronic health condition or immunosuppressed

You may arrange your appointment by calling our main number 85600535. You will receive simple instructions to enable you to have your consultation on your phone or computer. If there is a need to see you in person, we will organize for that to occur in a safe manner at our rooms.

Impact on Catheter Ablation Procedures

Our practice supports recommendations of the Heart Rhythm Council of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, as well as state and national guidelines in this regard. Government and Council guidelines are updated from time to time. This goal is to reduce the risk of viral transmission and to preserve hospital resources in readiness for a potential surge in COVID-19 related admissions.

If your condition requires urgent treatment, there is no restriction on your treatment which will not be subject to delay. When restrictions are in place, there may be a necessary delay in your elective procedure. If your condition is deteriorating, you should seek medical attention immediately to determine what additional treatment you require, and if an urgent procedure is needed. Please do not hesitate contact us on 8560 0535 in this regard, or 000 if it is an emergency.

The hospitals that we perform procedures at are taking multiple precautions to minimize the risk of infection with COVID-19, by screening staff and patients for the virus and ensuring that anyone with symptoms is kept out of the hospital. For non-urgent problems, we will work with you to alleviate your symptoms with medical treatment, until procedural restrictions are lifted.
